Happy Halloween!

Halloween is right around the corner, and everyone is getting into the spooky spirit! From decorating homes to picking out costumes, the excitement is palpable. At our office, we are looking forward to Fall Festivals, especially the Katy Rice Harvest Festival.

We’re so excited to see what everyone dresses up as. It's always fun to see what costumes the staff come up with. In the past, they have dressed as toothbrushes, packs of floss, and superheroes.

Now, let's talk treats. We all love candy! And candy in moderation is okay if you brush and floss afterward. But sugar-free treats, especially those sweetened with xylitol, are going to be the best option for your teeth and they’re dentist-approved treats.

On the other hand, treats that are hard on your teeth like candy apples, popcorn treats, and jawbreakers are not the best options. And it’s also important to note that super sour candy can cause erosion of the enamel due to its acidity.

Lastly, there’s a theory that you can eat as much candy as you want without impacting your dental health as long as you brush your teeth right after and we’re sure that during this time of the year, everyone wants to know if it’s true or not. We would agree that it has some truth, but eating large amounts of candy is just bad for your overall health. So, it's best to think of Halloween candy as a special treat to eat in small quantities. Remember to brush and floss regularly to keep your teeth healthy and happy!

And getting a yearly checkup can help avoid any issues with your dental health. If you haven’t used up your benefits for this year, make sure to give us a call. We are currently doing free consultations for orthodontics with lots of options for you. Make sure to ask us about Reveal Clear Aligners. This procedure is a great way to achieve your best smile.

We hope to see you soon!
